Another snowy day...

Hello all,

Can you believe it, 2 posts in 2 days!?! We have snow... lots of snow. Maybe about 3 inches? I think we are going to get more later this evening and more ice, yuck! Ken has to drive home from Berea tonight, so that worries me. The kids and I are just trying to stay warm and being lazy today, I think we are all still in our PJ's. Kaden is just waking up from  a nap. He has been getting up quite a few times during the night and was up for an hour last night. I talked to a nurse at the pediatrician today and she get me some hopefully very helpful hints to get him back to sleepy thru the night. I think a lot of it is his age. I hear 15-24 months are trying times for kids and parents... so we shall see. He is ready for me to get him up, so I will cut this one short. Stay warm and be careful if you have to get out! I attached some pics from our last snow!

Waiting for the snow...

Hello all,

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are staying inside and warm. Our weekend ended up being pretty full. Ken worked Friday night and Rachel and I went to her indoor soccer game. They lost but she played well. Ashton came out and watched Kaden, the indoor facility is not a Kaden friendly place!! Saturday Rachel had soccer training and Ken was able to finally get a successful hair cut at a  barber shop! We went to lunch where Kaden fell in love with cottage cheese!!! I mean this kids amazes me, who eats cottage cheese but not corn??? I have been able to hide some peas, corn, and carrots in some of his meals so that is a plus! Sunday we tackled early mass which always ends with Ken and Kaden in the Cry room. Church really isn't Kaden's cup of tea at this time. I had Sunday school and then came home and my parents, sisters, and Trey and Griffin came over and we went to lunch where Kaden was in about the crabbiest mood he has been in in a while! Nothing would satisfy him! He was much happier when we got home and he could move around freely.  Mom, the girls and I went shopping later that afternoon for something for Ashton to wear to her PT school interview this Friday. We found her a really nice suit, I am sure she will knock them dead. To cap off our weekend, we were thrilled to take Dairy Queen up on their Blizzard Advisory deal- blizzards are buy 1 get 1 free when it snows!!  We were so excited that we got 6 blizzards for $9! Oh, the small things!!!

Rachel is out of school today for snow, although they should have went. If we get the weather they are predicting she may not go all week! Hope you all stay in and stay warm and be careful if you get out in this weather!

Yes, we are alive...

Greetings All,

WOW, I think it has been a week since my last post. It's been a rough last few days in our house. I'll start where I left off last week. Ken was off Thursday - Sunday so we had lots of plans. We did some painting in the guest bathroom and painted part of our kitchen. Rachel was out of school Friday for the "frigid" temperatures so she was a great help with Kaden while we worked. She even helped strip some wallpaper! All was going great until Saturday morning. I got up and felt like I had been hit by a dump truck. I had been having some sinus stuff so I thought it was just drainage, took some medicine and felt ok. But was the day progressed I felt worse and worse. I was running a temperature and could barley swallow. I was sure I had the flu. Aunt Ashton came out to sit with the kids while Ken took me to the Urgent Care Center. The verdict was in, I had Strep throat. Now I haven't had strep throat in at least 5 years and I can tell you that when they say it is much worse as an adult, I can tell you that they aren't kidding!! I felt a bit better Sunday and we had some of our family on Ken's side over for football as the day and night progressed I felt much worse. Ken was off Monday morning and had to take Rachel to Louisville for a Hearing check up so it was just Kaden and I. My throat was so swollen I couldn't even get applesauce down so needless to stay empty stomach plus medicine equals THROWING UP!!! Ken ended up taking a sick day Monday night and Nannie saved the day by coming up and staying Tuesday and Tuesday night with us. Thank God she did because I was up all Tuesday night throwing up, I didn't get a wink of sleep and I am don't think Ken did either bless his heart. Ken said my tonsils were the size of golf balls and looked pretty nasty. I had for force myself to get half a piece of toast down Tuesday morning to take some medicine and got some rest and started to finally feel much better. I rested most of yesterday and last night and I feel close to a million bucks today!!  I told Ken that I would rather have 5  more c-sections before I would go through that again, and I am not joking! It was awful!

Anyway, I am back to feeling normal and I have to say that I really have the best husband and family anyone could ever ask more. Ken took care of me, the kids, the house and managed to work!! Rachel was a huge help with Kaden was well, even telling Ken she would stay home from a friends house and help watch Kaden while he took care of me and did things around the house. I really am blessed with a great family!

Well, speaking of being back to normal it is lunch time around here and Kaden is sitting beside me letting me know about it too!

We want to wish Aunt DeDe a Happy Birthday today!

Just checking in....

Hi All,

It's been a few days since I have written, don't really have an excuse, just been lazy in this freezing weather! Not a lot has been going on with us, just trying to stay warm. Ken is off the rest of the week and weekend so we are going to get some things done around the house and relax. I am getting ready to go start painting our downstairs half-bath, Kaden is napping and Ken is hoping to play some Play Station I am sure! Ken and I enjoyed watching Jodie Meeks make UK history the other night... what a game and accomplishment! I was at Bunco for most of the game but did see him break the record! Rachel has her first indoor soccer game tomorrow night, she is excited about that. Kaden and I are staying home, the 8:30 game time is too late for him to be out and about! I think that is all for now, I am sure I will have an exciting post after I attempt to paint!

Have a good day!

One more thing...

Oh, I forgot... please keep Ken in your thoughts and prayers. He is going to he doctor tomorrow for a physical and some pain he has been having in is rib/side/chest area. He thinks it's an ulcer. We all know how he likes to self-diagnose!

What a busy weekend!

Hi All,

What a busy weekend?! I am just now getting a chance to update this thing. We did some county hopping this weekend. Ken had to work all weekend so the kids and I were out and about. Saturday, Rachel had her first soccer practice since early November. By her beet red face when I picked her up, I imagine it wasn't too easy to get back into the swing of things! After her practice we headed to Taylorsville for Maggie's 2 freshman basketball games. Kaden loves going to basketball games but of course he hates to sit still. He did love it when Poppie took him onto the floor at halftime and let him play with the ball rack and watch the kids shoot. He also had his first chicken McNugget Happy Meal which he loved! Kaden stayed and went home with Mimi and Poppie and Rachel, Ashton, and I headed back to Lexington. Kaden stayed the night with them because I had to teach Sunday school the next morning and with Ken working there was no where for the wild man to go. We got back to Lexington and dropped Rachel off with her Mom and I took Ashton home and packed all her million bags up her steps in the rain!  Then I had a couple hours of alone time! Oh what to do???.... SHOP!!! I met up with Ken later and when had dinner and hung out with friends at The Pub.

Sunday, I had Sunday school and then headed back to Mt. Washington. I must say Kaden seemed very excited to see Mommy! I had a bunco/Premier party at Amy's that afternoon, that was a lot of fun even though I didn't win anything. Kaden and I said our goodbyes and headed back home. We picked Rachel up and came home to see Daddy and then Aunt KK and Aunt DeDe visited us for while. WOW, what  a busy weekend!

Kaden is now in my lap after smashing his finger in the drawer, so I must cut this one short. He is grabbing at everything in close range.  Hope this finds you all rested and ready for another week!

Salsa for Kaden

Hello All,

We hope you enjoyed our first post, we are going to take a swing at another one.  Rachel had an orthodontist appointment in Georgetown yesterday so while we were there Ken needed a hair cut. He has a hard time finding someone that can cut his hair the way he likes..... and this one was a definite NO!  Let's just say that when he left there his hair was styled in a mohawk!! I wonder by looking at Ken what made her think he was the mohawk kind of guy??? We are hoping that when he attempts to actually fix it himself the mohawk is "fixable"! I am not sure how his patients would feel getting their drugs filled by a dude with a mohawk!

Rachel's appointment went well, she is hoping to get her braces off in July at the latest. The big decision at those appointments are which color bands she should get. We usually have to discuss it the days leading up the the appointment and take a poll about which ones she should choose.  The colors this month are.... drum roll please.... purple and yellow!

After we were finished we ( or I because I was too lazy to cook) decided to go to dinner at a Mi Mexico, a restaurant we used to eat at frequently. I have to say the high light of dinner was when Kaden pretty much drank and licked the left over salsa out of the jar. This kid loves salsa! Tell me how he eats salsa and spinach but won't touch corn or apples!!  I have attached a picture of him licking the container dry!

Hope you all have a great weekend,  we have a busy day tomorrow but I will try and post again tomorrow!

Hello All!

Hi Everyone!!

So, I see all these other folks with their blogs and I thought, hey I should do one of those to keep in touch with all of our family and friends! I am going to attempt to write a little bit everyday or so to update you all on the happenings in our life. We miss you all, and hope this will keep us in touch better. So here goes my first "blogging" experience...

We are finally starting to settle back in after the holidays, school is back in and Ken's work schedule is back to normal. As I sit here and type this he is in the family room (he is off today) killing bad guys on one of the Play Station 3 games he got for Christmas. Kaden is taking a late nap and I am still in my PJ's enjoying some down time. Rachel had a 1 hour delay this morning and we were amused when she knocked on our door and said " So what time does that mean school is starting ?"

Ken and Rachel went and saw the movie Yes Man the other  night and I think they broke new ground with the father/daughter "embarrassing" movie scenes. I think they were both pretty shocked during some parts, I am just glad I wasn't there!

Mr. Kaden is now 16 months and is starting to do all kinds of new, exciting things. He is now pushing and walking behind his walker toys and loving it. I am hoping he may walk in the next month or so. He is climbing in and on anything he can and can now successfully climb our stairs in record time!  He can say a variety of new words and even repeated "GO BIG BLUE" the other night... is he our child or what????!!! Of course I am partial to Mommy is says constantly!!

I think that is all for today, hope this finds you all Happy and Healthy this New Year!

XOXO,

The Glass Family
